This detailed vintage padlock prop was created by my student as part of our PBR Texturing & Real-Time Asset Creation module.
The goal of this assignment was to explore how everyday objects can tell stories through their materials, surface damage, and aging.

The student focused on:
Clean low-poly modeling with efficient topology
High-poly detailing to capture dents, wear, and subtle metal imperfections
Realistic PBR textures showcasing rusting, metal tarnish, and fingerprint smudges
Accurate baking for crisp normals and surface breakup
Moody presentation lighting to highlight the prop’s shape and history
This project is a great example of how even a simple object can become visually rich when approached with strong observation skills and attention to detail. Proud to share this piece and the growth behind it.
